UI-Venus-2 expands GUI coverage and verification

The paper describes progress toward dependable execution, not a universally reliable GUI agent.

UI-Venus-2 combines a closed-loop reasoning/action framework with broader environment coverage, task generation and verification. The authors report more than 170 multilingual mobile apps plus native desktop environments; that coverage is not a success rate.

Trace-level and sample-level evaluators use visual keypoints and model voting to supply training rewards. The system also includes controls for consequential actions. Those mechanisms should be described separately from claims about dependable behavior on unseen applications.

The paper frames the work as progress toward real-world deployment. The original first-reliable/no-caveat characterization overstated that evidence. Before adoption, choose a small set of target apps and exercise recovery, permission boundaries and consequential actions as well as successful task completion.

Editorial correction (2026-10-13 UTC): Replaced novelty and reliability guarantees with actual coverage and verification mechanisms.
