GPT-4chan: This is the worst AI ever

Why it earned a slot

GPT-4chan is a historical case to examine when reviewing a domain-specific model’s data and deployment. Kilcher’s project repository provides helper code and links the dataset and model, but explicitly excludes the bot code. Use the project to ask what was collected, what behavior was evaluated and how generated content was used. A public dataset or a model benchmark does not by itself establish acceptable behavior for a new assistant.

The short version

Review the data and the deployment together.

Why it matters

A domain-specific assistant needs evidence about source provenance, output behavior and intended use. Those checks answer different questions; one benchmark score cannot replace them.

My take

I would separate data-provenance review, task-quality evaluation and misuse testing before fine-tuning on a niche corpus. For this historical project, the published helper code is only part of the system, so a replication needs to say which components are actually available.

How it connects

Bottom line

Review provenance and test the intended behavior before fine-tuning; document which parts of the historical setup can be reproduced.
